BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State women's volleyball team won the first set, but couldn't hold on and fell in four sets 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 18-25, 16-25) to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) foe the Bluefield State Lady Blues (13-16, 9-3 CIAA) Monday inside the A.C. Jordan Arena for its home finale.The Bulldogs recognized its three seniors Shaska Davis, Nicole Taylor and Jaide Holliday prior to the first serve for senior night.
The loss dropped BSU record to 9-18 overall and 6-7 in CIAA play, while BLU improves to 13-16 overall and 9-3 in the conference.
The Bulldogs offense was paced by Senior Taylor, who finished with 14 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .344, and by Senior Davis, who had 10. Taylor Johnson grabbed 15 digs to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs grabbed control of the set-one lead at 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-20. Bowie State opened up its biggest lead, five points, to close out the set. Bowie State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Bluefield State attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Bowie State dropped the second set 25-22 to tie the match 1-1. The Bulldogs dropped the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Bowie State fell again in the third set to make it a 2-1 deficit. The Bulldogs fell in a tough set 25-18. Bowie State trailed by as many as seven points as Bluefield State grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4 in a set that was tied up four times before the Lady Blues took over the lead.
SET 4 | Bowie State lost set four and the match, falling 25-16. The Bulldogs trailed by as many as nine points as Bluefield State grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 and Bowie State wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up two times before the Lady Blues took over.
