LINCOLN, PA --The Bowie State women's volleyball team fought back after dropping set one to secure a 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-10, 25-18, 25-15) over the Lincoln (PA) Lions (2-22, 1-13 CIAA) Thursday on the road inside Manuel Rivero Hall.
The conference victory improved BSU's record to 10-18 overall and 7-8 in CIAA action, while LUPA drops to 2-22 overall and 1-13 in the conference.
The Bulldogs were led by a double-double from Shaska Davis, who registered 10 kills and 10 digs on the day. Nina Edwards also added nine kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Taylor Johnson chipped in with 17 digs and Nicole Taylor recorded three blocks.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs found themselves in an early hole, dropping the first set 25-22. Bowie State trailed by as many as six points as Lincoln (PA) grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Lions took control.
SET 2 | Bowie State evened the match at 1-1 following a 25-10 second-set win. The Bulldogs led from the opening point on in the set to secure the victory. Bowie State opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 15 points, to finish off the set. The Bulldogs hit .304 over the course of the set. The Bowie State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Bowie State grabbed a 2-1 match lead after taking down the Lions in the third set. The Bulldogs grabbed control of the set early when the score was 2-1 and never trailed to win 25-18. Bowie State led by eight points at 12-4 before finishing off the stanza. The Bowie State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Bowie State ended the match with a 25-15 fourth-set victory, winning their third set in a row. The Bulldogs grabbed control of the set at 4-3 and held the lead the rest of the way. Bowie State ended the stanza on a high note by opening up its biggest lead, 10 points, to close out the set. Bowie State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set.

Following Thursday's meeting with Lincoln (PA), the Bulldogs will travel to Petersburg, Va., to take on Virginia State University in the final match of the 2024 season Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. inside the VSU Multipurpose Center.
