BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will host Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) foe Claflin University Lady Panthers at home on Saturday, Dec.7, for its themed Ugly Sweater Day inside the A.C. Jordan Arena. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m., kicking off the evening doubleheader action.
The game will be broadcast live on the Bulldog Sports Network.

Clear Bag Policy
Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag into the stadium all of which are subject to search.
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium.

Last Whistle
The Bulldogs (6-2, 1-0 CIAA) won its last outing against the University of the District of Columbia (1-6) 70-46 at home Wednesday in the DMV showdown. Destiny Ryles led the charge for the Bulldogs tallying 19 points, a season-high seven assists, five rebounds, and a season-high five steals. Mia Smith contributed 14 points, four assists, and three steals, while Ayasha Thomas scored 12 points off the bench.
Bowie State held UDC to 15.4 percent from beyond the arc and disrupted their offense, forcing 20 turnovers while committing only 10 themselves. BSU tallied 13 steals compared to the Firebirds' six.The Bulldogs dominated, scoring 36 points in the paint compared to the UDC 22. Bowie State moved the ball effectively, recording 13 assists compared to UDC's 9. The Bulldog's largest lead against the Firebirds was 31 points in the win Wednesday.
The win extended the Bulldogs winning streak to five, entering Saturday conference tilt, respectively.
Commanding the Paint
The Bulldogs have outscored their last three opponents in points in the paint by a margin 10 points or more. Rim protector Beulah Odiong has racked up 26 offensive rebounds turning them into second-chance opportunities for the Bulldogs. Odiong leads the Bulldogs in rebounds averaging 8.1 per game and had a season-high seven offensive rebounds in the win against UDC. Playmaker Ryles leads the team in assists averaging 3.5 per game, helping facilitate the offense to increase the points in the paint. Players like Smith, Shelby Ricks, Mayah Garner, and Gabrielle Clary have thrived by scoring inside the paint. The Bulldogs have accumulated a total of 266 points in the paint. Bowie State ranks second in rebounding margins with a +3.0 and fourth in offensive rebounds averaging 14.7 per game in the conference.
About Claflin
CLAF enters Saturday's match 3-3, following a loss against Virginia Union, 75-47 on the road Thursday. Nya Morris led the Lady Panthers with 15 points and a season-high seven rebounds, and a season-high four assists, while Ashari Lewis recorded 12 points, two rebounds in the loss.
This is head coach Terrence Jenkins's fourth season with CLAF, as the Lady Panthers went 17-11 overall and 10-8 in the conference in the during the 2023-24 season. The 2024-2025 roster has 10 returners and seven newcomers. The Lady Panthers were selected to finish second in the CIAA Preseason Poll. Jasymyn Jefferies was selected to the 2024-25 CIAA Pre-Season All-Conference Team leading the conference in assist last year.
CLAF is averaging 70.2 points, 37.2 rebounds, 12.4 assists, and 12.8 steals through six games this season. Morris leads the team, averaging 15.0 points and 2.6 steals per game, while Jefferies averages 2.8 assists per outing. Defensively, Destiny Harrison leads the team in rebounds averaging 4.6 per game, while Olivia Randolph owns 1.2 blocks per outing, respectively.

Bowie State will remain home to host Wilmington University (Del.), in a non-conference showdown Monday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. inside the A.C. Jordan Arena.
