BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics added Karmin Powell to its staff as a program specialist announced by Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Clyde Doughty, Jr. Friday. Powell comes to BSU in an official capacity after serving as a security specialist for the Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. where she was responsible for addressing personal identity verification for credential processing.
"As we continue to enhance our business processes it is with great excitement that we welcome Ms. Karmin Powell as the Program Management Specialist for Bowie State University Athletics and Recreation," said Doughty, Jr. "Ms. Powell is no stranger to this department, having served as an assistant softball coach for many years. She brings a fresh set of eyes, concepts and technology abilities that will enhance how we manage policies, protocols and procedures."
Powell is no stranger to BSU Athletics, she currently will be entering her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs softball program under the leadership of Ed Powell. In her role with the softball program, she handles all operations from team scheduling, travel, ordering and equipment.
"I am so thrilled to be able to join the BSU athletics team in this capacity," said Powell. "I am looking forward to continuing to work with my community and be part of an athletic program that supports and strives to provide the best experience for the student-athletes."
In Powell's new role, she will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation, Associate AD and Assistant AD's, as well as serve as a liaison to the coaches, faculty, staff, students, parents, and alumni.
