BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State softball team will head to Delaware State University on Sunday, Feb. 25 for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 12 noon from DSU Softball Field.
The doubleheader will be streamed live on Hornets All-Access.
The Series
- Second doubleheader meeting between the BSU and DSU.
- The Hornets are 2-0 against the Bulldogs.
- BSU has only committed one error against DSU.
About Bowie State
The Bulldogs (3-6) enter Sunday's matchup after dropping a doubleheader against Division I Howard University on Wednesday, Feb 21. BSU fell 2-1 and 2-0 in seven innings. Sydney Edmond led the team in the first matchup getting a sac-fly scoring Coreena Dunham for the Bulldogs only run on the day. Edmond leads the team with a batting clip of .462, followed by Dunham (.310) and Akirra Pullen (.304).
In the circle, Taylor Dawkins has an ERA of 3.60 with 4 strikeouts through 11.2 innings pitched. Pullen has made the most starts for BSU with an ERA of 3.71 and 14 strikeouts through 28.1 innings.
About Delaware State
The Hornets (0-1) dropped their first game of the season against Wilmington University 4-2 on Sunday, Feb 18. Kayla Lester tallied two hits with one of them being a double. Annalise Santana reached base twice scoring both of DSU's runs. The Hornets are coming off an 8-31 record and a 2-17 record in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Returning players Brittney Phally and Uxua Lopez received All-MEAC third-team honors.
In the circle, Mckenzie Yurcaba posted an ERA of 2.33 in 3.2 innings while Kristin White closed out the game by not allowing a run through 1.2 innings pitched.
