Men's Basketball Visits RICA-Baltimore for Community Service Initiative

BOWIE, MD -- On Friday, January 26, the Bowie State men's basketball team had the opportunity to give back to the community as the Bulldogs visited RICA-Baltimore through a partnership with former team manager Wesley LeCounte, LCSW-C who serves an employee as a Day Treatment Coordinator.

"This was a great opportunity to get out into the community," said Associate Head Coach Bryan Wilson. "We look forward to continuing this partnership each year."

RICA-Baltimore is a mental health residential treatment facility of the Maryland Department of Health located in Baltimore City. This facility serves adolescents and their families from the central Maryland region, the Eastern Shore, and parts of Western Maryland.  RICA-Baltimore is staffed by qualified multidisciplinary treatment teams, providing treatment and educational programs for adolescent boys and girls aged 12 to 17 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral and learning difficulties.

During the Bulldogs time at the facility, BSU student-athletes and coaching staff engaged in an open discussion about life decisions, goals, college life and healthy relationships. Members of the Bulldogs men's basketball team also got the opportunity to shoot around, play games of 1-on-1 and learn fundamental basketball skills with residents.
