Bulldogs Host Millersville, Bloomsburg Before Conference Play Begins

BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State softball team will host back-to-back doubleheaders at home beginning with a non-conference twin bill against Millersville on Friday, Mar. 15 at 1 p.m., followed by a non-conference doubleheader with Bloomsburg on Saturday, Mar. 16 at 12 noon. All games will be played at the BSU Softball Field.

The Series vs Millersville

  • The Marauders are 25-3 all-time against the Bulldogs.
  • BSU is 2-8 in the last 10 games. 
  • The Bulldogs swept the last home doubleheader against the Millersville on Apr. 20, 2022. 

The Series vs Bloomsburg

  • Bowie State is 8-2 against Bloomsburg all-time.
  • The Bulldogs picked up the program's first ever sweep against the Huskies last season, defeating BU 5-4 and 5-3 in 2023.
  • The victories in 2023 snapped an eight-game losing skid against Bloomsburg.

About Bowie State 
The Bulldogs (5-12) enter Friday's matchup after dropping a doubleheader against West Liberty University Thursday afternoon 8-5 and 6-4. Coreena Dunham went 2-3 with a walk and showing off her speed stealing five bases in game one. Reigning CIAA Player of the Year Lindsey George picked up four hits with one of them being a homerun and three RBIs. 2X Rookie of the Week Presleigh Braxton also picked up four hits with an RBI in the doubleheader.  

Dunham leads the team with a batting clip of .365, followed by Sydney Edmond (.333) and Jayla Hill (.326). In the circle, Akkira Pullen (2-6) has an ERA of 4.05 with 26 strikeouts through 46.2 innings pitched. George (2-5) has started seven games with an ERA of 4.38 with 13 strikeouts through 30.1 innings.  

About Millersville  
The Marauders (6-7) split their last outing against Fairmount State, dropping the opener 8-7 while winning the nightcap in extra innings 9-7. Aleese Angelo tallied four hits with one being a home run in the doubleheader. Gabi Turner tallied three hits with one being a grand slam. 

In the circle, Alex Schaefer (3-2) has an ERA of 4.16 with 35 strikeouts through 35.1 innings pitched followed by Morgan Crutcher (0-3) has an ERA of 5.73 with 10 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched. 

About Bloomsburg  
The Huskies (8-5) split their last outing against Florida Southern winning game one 3-1 while dropping game two 3-2. Sarah Yamrick shined driving in two runs on three hits in the twin bill. 

In the circle, Callie Sowers (7-0) has an ERA of 0.32 with 45 strikeouts through 44.1 innings pitched followed by Yamrick (0-2) has an ERA of 6.68 with eight strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched.
