BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State softball team dropped a doubleheader against Millersville University (8-7) 1-0, and 2-1 on Friday afternoon Mar. 15 at Bulldogs Softball Field.
GAME 1 | Millersville 1, Bowie State 0
Akirra Pullen (2-7) got the ball to start for BSU (5-13) and took the loss. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing two walks and striking out three.
At the plate, the Bulldogs were paced by Jayla Hill, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. BSU last got a runner on third in the fourth, when Ryan Fraser made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.

» BSU pitchers faced 27 Millersville hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out three.

Lindsey George (2-6) started and took the loss in the circle for the Bulldogs (5-14). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits, allowing no walks and striking out three.
George led the way offensively for the Bulldogs, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Bulldogs first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. George put BSU on the board with a two-out solo home run off Angelina Saverase. The Bulldogs were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
