Last Time Out
The Bulldogs (11-20, 6-4 CIAA) enter Sunday's matchup after a long road trip in Virginia where they faced Virginia State and Virginia Union. BSU dropped three of the four games played with the sole win being an 8-0 shutout against VUU. Akirra Pullen dominated only allowing three hits in the five-inning shutout. Pullen also provided some offense for the Bulldogs as she started the scoring with a three-run home run in the first inning. Lindsey George also tallied two hits in the game with one stolen base.
Jayla Hill leads the team with a batting clip of .437, followed by Coreena Dunham (.319) and George (.292). In the circle, Pullen (5-10) has an ERA of 3.15 with 50 strikeouts through 82.1 innings pitched. George (5-7) has started nine games with an ERA of 3.67 with 40 strikeouts through 66.2 innings.
CIAA Weekly Honors
Bowie State's Aliyah Smith of the Bulldog softball team was named this week's Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Player of the Week announced by the conference office Tuesday.
The award is Smith's second of the season. The Stafford, Va., native garnered the accolade after coming off a weekend that featured a high of eight putouts against Virginia State on Sunday, Apr. 7. Additionally, Smith combined for 31 putouts to go along with 27 catches at the first base position. Against VSU, Smith had a fielding percentage of 1.000-percent.
About Lincoln (PA)
The Lions (11-21, 7-3 CIAA) enter Sunday's matchup after splitting their doubleheader against the College of Staten Island dropping game one 9-0 and winning game two 5-4. Jordin Cathey shined in game two tallying two hits with one being a three-run home run putting the Lions ahead in the first inning. Tia Brown scored the winning run when an error was committed by the defense of the Dolphins.
In the circle, Chloe Foster (3-7) has an ERA of 3.18 with 36 strikeouts through 83.2 innings pitched followed by Kailee Richmond (2-5) with an ERA of 3.21 with 30 strikeouts in 48.0 innings pitched.
