Bulldogs Host Bluefield State, Elizabeth City State in Home Finale

BOWIE, MD --The Bowie State softball team will host back-to-back Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference doubleheaders against Bluefield State on Saturday, Apr. 20 at 2 p.m., followed by Elizabeth City State on Sunday, Apr. 21 at 12 p.m. at the BSU softball field.

Senior Day
The Bulldogs will honor seven seniors before the start of Sunday's twinbill against Elizabeth City. First baseman Aliyah Smith, second baseman Saniya Jones, pitcher Akirra Pullen, catcher Ellianna Henneberg, third baseman Jahkya Watkins, pitcher Karen Fritgez, and LeAire Livingston (manager)

The Series vs Bluefield

Last Time Out 
The Bulldogs (12-21, 6-5 CIAA) enter the weekend matchups after splitting a series against Lincoln (PA). Jayla Hill had a phenomenal day tallying five hits with one being a home run and three RBIs over the two games played. Presleigh Braxton also tallied four hits and scored three times across the two games. 

Hill leads the team with a batting clip of .457, followed by Coreena Dunham (.327) and Lindsey George (.308). In the circle, Pullen (6-10) has an ERA of 3.01 with 51 strikeouts through 82.1 innings pitched. George (5-8) has started 15 games with an ERA of 3.71 with 40 strikeouts through 66.2 innings.  

About Bluefield State
Bluefield State (12-19, 7-3 CIAA) enters Saturday's matchup after splitting their doubleheader against Virginia State dropping game one 3-1 and winning game two 7-3. Madison Roland helped Big Blue get the victory by going 2-4 with a double and two RBIs. Lexi Shadowens also tallied three hits in Bluefield State's victory.

In the circle, Maggie Mullin (7-7) has an ERA of 6.11 with 33 strikeouts through 79.0 innings pitched followed by Taylor Fells (5-7) with an ERA of 7.48 with 58 strikeouts in 63.2 innings pitched.  

About Elizabeth City State
The Lions (5-11, 4-6 CIAA) enter Saturday's matchup after dropping their doubleheader against the Virginia Union 3-0 and 4-2. Sikia Kornegay shined in game two tallying two hits with one RBI and two stolen bases. Jamia Guilford also tallied two hits and crossed the plate once for the Vikings. 

In the circle, Reagan Seelye (1-4) has an ERA of 3.83 with 26 strikeouts through 45.2 innings pitched followed by Camdyn Peck (1-5) with an ERA of 9.20 with 17 strikeouts in 35.0 innings pitched.
