BOWIE, MD --In the home finale, the Bulldogs sweep their Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) doubleheader against Elizabeth City State University winning 9-5 and 12-4 Sunday afternoon Apr. 21 at BSU Softball Field in Bowie, MD for senior day.
GAME 1 | Bowie State 9, Elizabeth City State 5
BSU (15-21,10-5) received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Bulldogs put nine runs on the board and knock off the Elizabeth City State (5-14,4-9) 9-5 Sunday afternoon.
Akirra Pullen (8-10) started in the circle and picked up the win for BSU. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up five runs, four earned, on nine hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Bulldogs first put runs on the board in the first inning. BSU's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Coreena Dunham and a two-run double from Lindsey George.
The Bulldogs then held the Vikings scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. BSU pushed across a run on Ellianna Henneberg's two-out RBI double, which brought the Bulldogs lead to 7-2.
ECSU narrowed BSU's lead to 7-3 before the Bulldogs stretched the advantage to 8-3 in the third inning. The Bulldogs notched a run on Sydney Edmond's RBI double.
The Vikings fought back, closing the gap to 8-5 until BSU added some insurance in the sixth. Presleigh Braxton crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Bulldogs, bringing the BSU advantage to 9-5. The score remained 9-5 for the rest of the game, as the Bulldogs coasted to the win.

Jayla Hill racked up four RBIs to help propel the Bulldogs (16-21,10-5) past the Vikings (5-15,4-10) 12-4 on Sunday afternoon.
Taylor Dawkins (1-1) got the win for BSU. The right-hander went three innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits.
Hill went 1-for-3 with an inside-the-park grand slam in addition to her four RBIs for the Bulldogs. George put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Braxton also chipped in for BSU, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding a walk and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom of the first inning with the game still scoreless. BSU managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Bulldogs then held the Vikings scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The BSU offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a grand slam off the bat of Hill, which brought the score to 7-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
ECSU narrowed BSU's lead to 7-3 before the Bulldogs stretched the advantage to 11-3 in the third inning. The Bulldogs bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of George.
The Vikings gained ground, closing the gap to 11-4 until BSU added some insurance in the fifth. The Bulldogs recorded a run on George's one-out RBI double, bringing the score to 12-4 in favor of BSU. The score remained 12-4 for the rest of the game, as the Bulldogs coasted to the win.
