WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- The Bowie State Bulldogs fell 28-14 to the Winston-Salem State Rams on the road Saturday afternoon at Bowman Gray Stadium.
The Rams improved to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league action.
Curtis Murray totaled 41 yards to lead the Bulldogs ground attack in the game, picking up 5.1 yards per carry. Sam Doku also tacked on 35 yards and one touchdown on the ground, picking up 5.8 yards per carry.
The most prolific target for BSU quarterbacks was Joshua Thurston, who caught six passes for 53 yards.
Jordan Williams showed out for the Bowie State defense, collecting eight tackles with five being solo. Sadiq Salawu pitched in with seven total tackles and five solo tackles as well. Defensively, BSU held up fairly well against the Winston-Salem State offensive attack, holding the Rams to 345 total yards.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs grabbed a 7-0 lead over the Rams after scoring the game's first points with 5:56 left in the first quarter. WSSU then scored to take a 28-7 lead before the Bulldogs put a touchdown on the board to close the gap and make it a 28-14 game. Neither team scored again in the game.
