Bulldogs Fall in 3-Set Sweep to Elizabeth City State

BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State volleyball team could not overcome a potent Lady Vikings offense Monday at home falling to Elizabeth City State in straight sets (32-34, 25-27, 21-25) in Central Intercollegiate Athletics (CIAA). 

The loss dropped Bowie State's record to 2-11 overall and 0-2 in CIAA play while ECSU improved to 3-9 overall and 2-0 CIAA action.

The Bulldogs offense was paced by Nicole Taylor, who finished with 12 kills on the day, and by Nina Edwards, who had 11 while hitting .381. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Taylor Johnson had 20 and Shaska Davis had 15.

» Taylor had a match-high 12 kills for Bowie State.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bulldogs dropped set one 34-32 despite a strong showing on the attacking side. Bowie State registered a .304 attack percentage with 21 kills in the set loss.

SET 2 | BSU fell in the second set 27-25, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Bulldogs came up short in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 15 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.

SET 3 | Bowie State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Bulldogs couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-21 in a set that featured three lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.
