BOWIE, MD—The Bowie State men's basketball team will jump straight out the bed for Education Day in a Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) matchup against Shaw University on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. inside of A.C. Jordan Arena. This will be the opening game of a doubleheader featuring the women's game beginning at 1:00 p.m. Both contests will offer free admission.

Clear Bag Policy
Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag into the stadium, all of which are subject to search.
• Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
• Small clutch bags measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
• All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes but is not limited to purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases, and diaper bags. Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. Bowie State University cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the stadium.
Gameday Promotion
Bulldogs, come out and show your support as the doubleheader will be free admission for Education Day. We encourage fans to wear pajamas to celebrate Education Day inside the A.C. Jordan Arena.
The Series
• The Bears have won four of the last five meetings against the Bulldogs entering Thursday's matchup.
• In their last meeting, Shaw defeated Bowie State 83-71 inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium in Raleigh, N.C.

Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State (8-7, 1-3 CIAA) secured their first conference win of the season and is now one game above a .500 win percentage on the season. Throughout the first half of the season, the Bulldogs are known for playing the passing lanes and protecting the paint. The Bulldogs are ranked second in the CIAA in blocks per game (4.5) while being ranked fourth in steals per game (9.6). Amare Wimbush, who averages 12.2 ppg and 6.3 rebounds.
Elijah Davis' 4.1 assists per game is ranked fourth in the CIAA while he also leads the conference in steals per game (2.7).
Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs won a back-and-forth affair against Fayetteville State in their last outing, 69-66, on Saturday, Jan. 4, inside A.C. Jordan Arena. BSU was led by Davis, who almost notched a double-double, scoring 18 points, with nine assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Joesph Allen and
Kevon Corley gave a boost off the bench, scoring 10 points apiece, rounding out the Bulldogs' double-digit scorers. Bowie State scored 38 points inside the paint in a game that featured nine lead changes. The Bulldogs limited the Broncos' fastbreak opportunities, as they only scored one point in transition.
Scouting Shaw
Shaw (7-8, 2-2 CIAA) is looking to get back into the win column against Bowie State on Thursday morning. SU is an excellent rebounding team as they are ranked fifth in the CIAA in rebounds per game (37.9). Defensively, the Bears are very disruptive ranking second in the conference for steals per game (10.13) and fourth in blocks (4.1). Shaw is led by Trent McIntyre, who is the team's leading scorer, averaging 17.8 points per game and is ranked second in the CIAA in steals per game (2.6). Dreveon Scott is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Last Time Out for the Bears
The Bears opened up 2025 by falling to CIAA competitor Lincoln University (PA) 76-68 on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, inside Manuel Rivera Hall. McIntyre led Shaw offensively scoring 21 points, with five assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Elijah Scranton scored 14 points off the bench while leading the team in rebounds with six. Despite the loss, the Bears won the turnover battle 22-16 while tallying 16 steals compared to the Lions five steals. Shaw scored the majority of their points in the paint tallying 44 points down low.

Bowie State will travel to the Nation's capital for a non-conference matchup against Division I Howard University on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. inside of Burr Gymnasium in Washington, D.C. The Bulldogs dropped their last meeting against Howard 88-67 on Nov. 1, 2021.
