The Series
Saturday's matchup marks the 16th meeting between Bowie State and Virginia Union since 2009, with the Bulldogs holding an 8-7 edge in the series. Bowie State's longest winning streak came over four consecutive games from 2017 to 2021, outscoring the Panthers 146-79.
CIAA Weekly Honors
Redshirt sophomore
Micah Robinson has been named the BOXTOROW National Player of the Week, the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Player of the Week, and the CIAA Offensive Back of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.
Robinson earned the honors following his standout performance on Saturday, Oct. 18, against conference rival Bluefield State. The Baltimore, Md. native delivered a dominant showing, carrying the ball 31 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 6.2 yards per carry to lead the Bulldogs to victory.
The performance further solidified Robinson's status among the CIAA's top offensive players, as he currently ranks second in the conference in rushing yards and third in all-purpose yards (613) this season.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Bowie State enters the matchup averaging 327.0 yards of total offense per game while allowing 333.3 yards. The Bulldogs' offense is balanced, led by quarterbacks
Kevin Taylor and
Malakai Anthony, who have combined for 1,208 passing yards and seven touchdowns with just three interceptions.
Joseph Towler is the top target with 305 receiving yards, while
Challenger Valentine (213 yards) and
Ty Lyles (182 yards) provide steady secondary options. On the ground, the Bulldogs feature one of the CIAA's top rushing duos in
Micah Robinson (562 yards, 4.6 avg, CIAA No. 2) and
Maximus Jones (412 yards, 5.1 avg, CIAA No. 5).
Defensively,
Samuel Graham leads the team with 53 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and a 53-yard fumble return touchdown.
Jamal Jones has been a force up front with 13 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, ranking third in the CIAA in both categories, while
Moses Sarweh adds 36 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss, ranking fifth in the league in total tackles. In the secondary,
Elijah McKenzie anchors the pass defense, ranking first in the CIAA with 15 pass breakups.
Special teams continue to be a bright spot, highlighted by kicker
Chris Coleman's 8-of-14 field goals with a long of 35 yards, and dynamic return specialists
Ty Lyles (29.6-yard kickoff return average, CIAA No. 2),
Joseph Towler (11.7-yard punt return average, CIAA No. 2), and
Carlos Smith (10.3-yard punt return average, CIAA No. 4), all of whom keep Bowie State among the league's best in field position play.
Scouting Virginia Union
Virginia Union enters the matchup ranked No. 17 in Division II, boasting the CIAA's No. 1 offense and No. 2 defense. The Panthers average 492.0 yards of total offense and 45.3 points per game while allowing just 306.7 yards and 19.1 points. Leading the charge is Curtis Allen, the No. 1 rusher in Division II, with 1,380 yards and 19 touchdowns on an 8.2-yard average. Quarterback RJ Rosales ranks fourth in the CIAA in passing, throwing for 1,093 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Keon Davis sits third in the CIAA in receiving with 530 yards and six scores.
Defensively, the Panthers have totaled 19.5 sacks and 41.5 tackles for loss, holding opponents to just 115 rushing yards per game. Ahmad Ross (38 tackles) and Kamari Federick (6.0 TFL, 3.5 sacks) anchor a dominant front, while Lamumba Howard and Jymere Melendez lead a secondary that's recorded seven interceptions.
On special teams, Brady Myers has been perfect (5-for-5 FG, 42-for-42 PAT), and Zyaire Tart ranks among the league's best returners, averaging 18.1 yards per punt return and 25.5 per kickoff.
