OXFORD, PA – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (11-14, 7-5 CIAA, 3-3 North) wrapped up its road trip in dominant fashion, sweeping Lincoln (PA) (1-22, 0-12 CIAA, 0-6 North) in straight sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-21) Monday night inside Oxford Area High School. The Bulldogs posted an impressive .359 hitting percentage with 36 kills and just eight errors on 78 attempts.
Bowie State opened the first set on fire, jumping ahead 10-3 behind a string of kills from
Nicole Taylor and crisp setting from
Taylor Johnson. The Bulldogs controlled the tempo with service aces from Johnson and key blocks by
Nadira Avery and
Madyson Brinson, building an 18-5 lead. Taylor capped off the frame with a kill to seal the 25-13 win.
The Bulldogs continued their strong play in the second set, using a key block from
Melisa Anacius and Brinson to even things at 14-14 before pulling away. Kills from
Lyric Snowden and Taylor kept Bowie State in front, while Snowden added back-to-back service aces to push the lead late. BSU closed out the set 25-18 to take a 2-0 match advantage.
In the third set, the Bulldogs rallied from a 20-20 tie with a late surge that included a Taylor kill, service aces, and clutch blocks from Anacius and
Iman Wright. Lincoln (PA) faltered down the stretch, committing key errors that allowed BSU to seal the 25-21 win and complete the sweep.
