BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State University volleyball team (11-16,7-6 CIAA, 3-4 North) dropped a three-set match to Virginia Union on Thursday evening inside McKeldin Gymnasium, falling 18-25, 25-27, 19-25.

The Lady Panthers jumped out early in the opening set, aided by Bowie State attack errors. The Bulldogs responded with a kill from Nina Edwards to tie it at 1-1 and later drew even at 8-8 after a block by Madyson Brinson and Melisa Anacius. Despite the push, VUU used a late run to claim the set, 25-18.

Bowie State came out strong in the second frame, highlighted by a service ace from Mekenna Scott and a kill from Edwards to take a 2-0 advantage. The Bulldogs continued to battle, with kills from Lyric Snowden and another ace from Trinity Loundmon keeping things close. Bowie State tied the set at 24-all behind Scott's ace, but Virginia Union edged out the 27-25 win.

The Bulldogs fell behind early in the third, 6-1, but continued to fight back. Edwards sparked the effort with multiple kills and blocks, cutting the deficit to 17-13. Despite a late rally that included an ace from Haley Pelham and a block from Nicole Taylor and Edwards, the Lady Panthers sealed the match with a 25-19 final set.
