FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (5-11, 2-2 CIAA) split its opening day at the CIAA round-up, beating Shaw before falling in three sets to Fayetteville State inside Felton J. Capel Arena.

The Bulldogs opened strong in the first set with kills from Iman Wright and Lyric Snowden, while capitalizing on Shaw's errors to take a 25-12 win. After dropping the second set, BSU bounced back in the third behind steady play from Nina Edwards and Nicole Taylor, fending off the Lady Bears' rally to edge out a 25-23 win.
In the deciding fourth frame, Bowie State turned a 14-14 tie into a late advantage, with Edwards and Snowden delivering key kills down the stretch. Edwards sealed the match with back-to-back points, lifting the Bulldogs to a 25-23 victory and their second CIAA win of the season. The win also marked Bowie State's first victory over Shaw since 2015.

Game Two | Fayetteville State 3, Bowie St. 0
The Bulldogs kept the first set close with kills from Snowden and Abena Asomani-Martin before the Lady Broncos pulled away late, 25-21. In the second, BSU rallied behind Snowden, Asomani-Martin, and a service ace from Taylor, but FSU held on for a 25-20 win.
The Bulldogs continued to fight in the third with contributions from Snowden, Melisa Anacius, and Madison James, but errors proved costly as Fayetteville State closed out the match, 25-16.
