Last Time Out
Bowie State enters the week looking to rebound from a challenging opening weekend at A.C. Jordan Arena, where the Bulldogs dropped a pair of competitive matchups to Gannon and West Chester.
In the season opener, BSU fell 99-80 to Gannon despite generating 11 steals and scoring 40 points in the paint. The Bulldogs responded to an early Gannon run with a layup from Thomas III off a feed from KJ West, followed by a three-pointer from Jaiden McGhee that cut the deficit to 24-23 late in the half. Gannon led 43-39 at halftime and used timely perimeter shooting to pull away in the second half. Bowie State continued to attack inside, highlighted by a Mike Davis layup that trimmed the margin to 51-44, but the Golden Knights outscored the Bulldogs 56-41 over the final 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs nearly broke through the following day, falling 76-73 in a back-and-forth contest with West Chester. BSU forced nine steals and took a 40-38 lead into the break after a late three-pointer by Dylan Blair cut the margin. Amadou Kaloga opened the second half with a three-pointer to extend the lead, and the teams traded baskets until the closing minutes. Two free throws from Ruben Rodriguez put West Chester ahead 74-71 with 26 seconds left, and Bowie State's final chance to tie fell short.
