SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.V. — The Bowie State men's basketball team (0-4) came up short against Shepherd University on the road Wednesday night, falling 76-66 despite forcing 11 steals in the nonconference matchup at Butcher Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs traded baskets early with the Rams, responding to an opening SU run with a three-pointer from
Justin Morrisey that knotted the game at 6–6. Bowie State then surged ahead behind the playmaking of
Guy Fauntleroy, who connected on multiple shots from deep to give BSU a 16-11 advantage midway through the first half.
Shepherd clawed back in the final minutes, trimming the deficit before hitting a three with 29 seconds left to take a 34-33 lead into the break.
BSU looked to regroup in the second half, but the Rams opened with another three-pointer to extend their edge. Bowie State continued to battle, led again by Fauntleroy, who stayed aggressive offensively and buried another three late in the game. However, SU's steady production at the foul line and a handful of timely buckets allowed the Rams to hold on.
