BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State men's basketball team (2-6) dropped an 88-79 decision to Shippensburg, Wednesday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The Bulldogs trailed by 14 at halftime but mounted a strong push in the second half, outscoring the Raiders 43-38 behind 22 fast-break points.
Jaiden McGhee opened the scoring with a layup in the first minute, but SU answered quickly and began to build momentum behind Markus Frank and Jaydon Smith. Despite a three-point play from Charles Thomas, III that cut the deficit midway through the half, the Raiders closed on an 8-0 run to take a 50-36 lead into the break.
Bowie State responded with energy in the second half, led by KJ West's all-around play. West sparked the Bulldogs' rally with timely buckets, including a fast-break layup that brought BSU within seven late in the game. McGhee continued his strong night with a deep three at the 6:13 mark, but Shippensburg held off the comeback attempt and sealed the game at the free-throw line.
