BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will continue its road skid, traveling to Richmond, Va., on Wednesday, Feb. 12 to take on the Virginia Union Lady Panthers in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) division showdown. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Barco-Stevens Hall.

Last Timeout for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs (16-6, 10-2 CIAA, 5-1 North) recorded another win extending the streak to four after defeating CIAA foe Elizabeth City State University on the road, 60-49 last Saturday. BSU was led by Destiny Ryles who recorded 20 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Beulah Odiong added her third double-double of the season, with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Additionally, Ayasha Thomas recorded nine points, three rebounds, and two assists off the bench.
Bowie State dominated in the paint, scoring 36 points compared to Elizabeth City State's 22. The Bulldogs' bench made a significant impact, contributing 25 points to the team's performance. BSU shot 42.6 percent from the field and outperformed ECSU on the boards, out-rebounding them 38-30 in the win.
Free Throw Fundamentals
Bowie State is a third best free throw shooting team in the CIAA, averaging 68-percent from the charity stripe. Mia Smith leads the CIAA in free throws, shooting 80-percent while Ryles ranks seventh at 71-percent. Ryles does lead the conference with 141 made free throws while Smith is 10th with 58 made on the year.

VUU enters Wednesday's match (16-4, 9-1 CIAA, 5-1 North) looking to extend its win streak to six straight after defeating Bluefield State University last Saturday 62-51 on the road. Tanyiah Greene led the Lady Panthers with 19 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Nevaeh Reaves and Bruni Martinez both contributed with 11 points apiece. The Lady Panthers shot 51-percent from the field and held Bluefield State to 25.4-percent from the field in the win.
Virginia Union is averaging 69.0 points, 39.2 rebounds, 13.5 assists, and 11.0 steals through 20 games this season. Greene leads the team with 16.2 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per outing, and 1.0 blocks per game. The team's best passer and defender is Brittini Martin who averages 2.3 assists per outing and 2.2 steals per game. VUU ranks second in offense and third in defense, respectively.
