BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will travel to Bluefield, WV for its road finale on Wednesday, Feb. 15 to take on the Bluefield State University Big Blue in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) division matchup. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. inside Ned Shott Gymnasium.

Last Timeout for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs (16-7, 10-3 CIAA, 5-2 North) lost its last outing against CIAA foe Virginia Union University (17-5, 10-2 CIAA, 6-1 North) snapping their four-game win streak on the road, 68-62 this past Thursday. BSU was led by Destiny Ryles who recorded 20 points, five rebounds, and two assists while Beulah Odiong helped with 10 points and four rebounds.
Despite the loss, BSU capitalized on turnovers, scoring 25 points against the Lady Panthers as Bowie State's bench outscored VUU 17-9.
Supporting Cast
Bowie State's second unit has made a significant impact, providing a spark whenever the starters take a break. Senior Ayasha Thomas averages 7.0 points per game and 1.6 steals per outing off the bench. Thomas recorded her season-high 17 points against VUU on Jan 22. The Bulldogs top shot blocker Kristin Sterling averages 0.7 blocks per game, tallying 15 blocks on the season. Sterling offensive presence has been on notice recording 15 points and six rebounds in her last two games. Freshman Gabrielle Clary's defensive act has been on display racking up 19 steals on the season. Clary has shot 66 percent from the free-throw line in her last four games. BSU has collected 124 bench points over the pervious five games, including a season-high 54 points against Elizabeth City State on Jan 25.
About Bluefield State
B-State enters Saturday's match (9-16, 2-11 CIAA, 2-5 North) on a five-game losing streak after falling to Virgina State University 66-61 on the road.
Caiyiah Smith led the Big Blue with a season-high 18 points, six rebounds, and two assists off the bench while Angel Walker added a season-high 12 points. Bluefield State held the Lady Trojans to 23 percent from beyond the arc and outscored the VSU bench 34-19 in the loss.
B-State is averaging 67.4 points, 38.5 rebounds, 15.3 steals, and 9.7 assists through 25 games this season. Jasmine Jenkins leads the team in the following: 14.0 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per outing, and 3.0 steals per game. The team's leading passer is Azariah Binford who averages 3.6 assists per outing while Andrea Robertson is good for one block per game.Bluefield State leads the CIAA in steals averaging 15.32 per outing and second in three-point field goals made with 136 on the season, respectively.
