Two Bulldogs Set to Represent Bowie State at Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl Saturday

BOWIE, MD -- Sadiq Salawu and Jared Achuff of Bowie State football will participate in the 2025 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl game on Saturday, Feb. 22 on the campus of Tulane University. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. (ET) from Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, La.

Notably, this marks the 13th and 14th student-athletes under the helm of Kyle Jackson to be selected to participate in the game, underscoring his ability to develop top-tier talent and his lasting impact on HBCU football.

Salawu emerged as one of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (CIAA) top linebackers, earning an All-American Honorable Mention, First Team All-CIAA, and D2CCA First Team All-Region honors. The Upper Marlboro, Md., native led the Bulldogs' defense with 93 tackles, ranking second in the conference, while adding 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and two passes defended. His standout performance came against nationally ranked Lenoir-Rhyne, where he posted a season-high 15 tackles, including nine solos, and a quarterback hurry. His ability to step up against top competition solidified his status as a premier defensive playmaker.

Achuff served as a captain and key leader of the Bulldogs football team, anchoring an offensive line that powered BSU to 1,863 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs' offense ranked third in the CIAA with 29.4 points per game, while also finishing second in rushing yards per game (176.3) and fourth in two-point conversions.

The Allstate HBCU All-Star Game, a rapidly growing showcase, highlights the exceptional talent within Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This exclusive, invite-only event brings together around 100 of the nation's top draft-eligible players from 33 HBCUs, offering them a crucial platform for exposure and professional opportunities.

Seven CIAA schools are represented in this year's game, showcasing the depth of talent across the conference. A total of 15 players earned the prestigious opportunity to compete on a national stage.
