Bowie State to Battle with Livingstone in Quarterfinals of the CIAA Tournament

BALITMORE, MD --- The No. 3 North Bowie State women's basketball team will clash with the No. 2 South Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) quarterfinals on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. inside the CFG Bank Arena. 
 
All 22 games will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+ (
https://plus.espn.com/) with the championship games also being shown on ESPNU.

The Series 

  • This is the 20th meeting between the Bulldogs and the Lady Blue Bears since 2008.
  • BSU owns an 13-6 record overall and is 8-2 in the last 10 games against LC.
  • The Bulldogs won the previous matchup against the Lady Blue Bears, 71-61 on the road inside the New Trent Gym on Dec.19. 

Last Timeout for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs were notorious in the rematch of last year's CIAA opening round against the Winston-Salem State Rams, 64-54 inside the CFG Bank Arena Tuesday evening. Destiny Ryles led the Bulldogs with 37 points and four rebounds, while Ayasha Thomas contributed with 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Bowie State shot 36.4 percent from from deep and held WSSU to 27.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs had 17 second chance points compared to Winston-Salem State's six points in the win.

About the Lady Blue Bears 
No. 2 Livingstone College (11-15, 9–7 CIAA, 7-3 South) won their regular-season finale over Winston-Salem State, 66-55 on the road last Saturday. Samiyah Briggs led LC with 19 points, while Morgan Kelson recorded 12 points and eight rebounds while Nielle Reaves added 10 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Livingstone enters Thursday's tilt on a two-game winning streak. LC ranks first in the conference in offense averaging 69.4 points a game and in team rebounds averaging 42.7 rebounds per outing, respectively. 
 
At Stake 
The winner between the Bulldogs and the Lady Blue Bears will advance to the semifinals on Friday, Feb. 28 at 12 noon and will face the winner between No. 1 (North) Virginia State and No. 5 (North) Lincoln (PA).
