BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's basketball team will hit the road, traveling to Elizabeth City, N.C. on Saturday, Feb. 8 to face the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) division contest. Tip-off is set to start at 2:00 p.m. inside the R.L. Vaughan Center.

Last Timeout for the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs (15-6, 9-2 CIAA, 4-1 North) extended their winning streak to three after defeating CIAA foe Bluefield State University at home, 60-48. BSU was led by Destiny Ryles who recorded 21 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Mia Smith added her first double-double of the season, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Additionally, Shanysse Alexander recorded a season-high six points and five rebounds off the bench.
Bowie State out-rebounded Bluefield State on the boards 50-35 with Beulah Odiong leading in rebounds with 12 on the evening. The Bulldogs held the Big Blue to 11.8 percent from beyond the arc and scored 16 points off of second-chance points compared to Bluefield State's four. BSU recorded 14 fast break points in the win.

Through 21 games, Ryles leads the team with 18.1 points per game, a conference-best 4.0 steals per outing, and 3.5 assists per game. Odiong is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 8.1 per outing. Odiong has recorded 40 rebounds in the last four games. Bowie State ranks third in team free throw percentage and fourth in defense in the league.
About Elizabeth City State
ECSU enters Saturday's match (7-12, 4-7 CIAA, 0-5 North) falling to Virginia State University last Saturday 72-69 at home. Vanessa Schwarzmann led the Lady Vikings with a season-high 15 points and three rebounds, while Rashauna Grant contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Additionally, Shikira Perry recorded a season-high nine points, seven assists, and five rebounds. The Lady Vikings shot perfect 9-9 from the free-throw line and recorded 33 bench points compared to VSU's 10 in the loss.
Elizabeth City State is averaging 61.3 points, 36.2 rebounds, 13.6 assists, and 10.1 steals through 19 games this season. Londen Coleman leads the team in points, averaging 7.6 points per game, while Grant is the team's rebounder averaging 8.2 rebounds per outing. Perry is the team's top passer averaging 2.3 assists per game while Shonyah Hawkins averages 2.8 per outing.
