BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State softball team (2-6) split a doubleheader against Georgian Court (1-1) on Saturday Mar. 1 at BSU Softball Field, rebounding from a 11-3 defeat in the opener to secure a decisive 7-3 victory in the nightcap.

Game One - Georgian Court 11, Bowie State 3
In the opener the Bulldogs managed nine hits, with Sydney Edmond and Ariana Ellerson leading the offense. Ellerson contributed an RBI double, while Bowie State scored in the second and fourth innings. Pitching struggles hurt the Bulldogs, as Georgian Court scored in the first five innings and totaled 14 hits.

Game Two - Georgian Court 3, Bowie State 7
In game two, the Bulldogs took an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings before sealing the victory with two more in the sixth. Georgian Court attempted a comeback with two runs in the fifth and another in the seventh but fell short. BSU's offense recorded nine hits, led by Presleigh Braxton, who went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and three stolen bases.

Pitcher Ryalee Dillard secured the win, throwing a complete game, allowing only one earned run, four hits, and striking out four.

The Bulldogs will travel to Frostburg, Md., for a non-conference doubleheader against Frostburg State University on Saturday, Mar. 8, at 1 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
