BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State softball team (6-11) swept a doubleheader against Mansfield (2-6) on Saturday, Mar. 15, earning a 2-0 shutout in game one and a dramatic 3-2 extra-inning win in the nightcap at BSU Softball Field.
Game One – Bowie State 2, Mansfield 0
Senior Lindsey George dominated in the circle, tossing a three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and two walks. The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning when sophomore Presleigh Braxton scored on an RBI single from sophomore Taylor Dawkins. Senior Jayla Hill then stole home to secure the 2-0 victory.
Game Two – Bowie State 3, Mansfield 2 (8 Innings)
Bowie State battled through eight innings before Hill delivered a walk-off RBI single. Sophomore Ryalee Dillard earned the win, pitching seven innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits, with four walks and seven strikeouts. Freshman Sydney Seals closed the game with a scoreless eighth inning.
Mansfield took a 1-0 lead in the fifth, but the Bulldogs responded when Braxton's two-run triple put them ahead 2-1. The Mountaineers tied it at 2-2, forcing extra innings before Hill's clutch RBI single sealed the sweep.

Bowie State returns to action on Sunday, Mar. 16 when the Bulldogs welcome Bloomsburg University for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 10 a.m. from the BSU Softball Field.
