HAMPTON, VA -- The Bowie State softball team (11-16, 5-0 CIAA) held a 2-1 lead heading into the sixth inning but was unable to maintain it, falling 4-2 to Hampton on Tuesday, Mar. 25, at Pirates Softball Stadium.
Freshman Sydney Seals came out of the bullpen for Bowie State and took the loss. Senior Lindsey George was a bright spot for the Bulldogs, starting the game and pitching four solid innings, allowing just one run on one hit while striking out four and walking one.
Offensively, senior Jayla Hill led the Bulldogs, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. George also contributed at the plate, finishing 1-for-2 with a double.
Bowie State got on the board in the fourth inning, tying the game at 1-1 when sophomore Taylor Dawkins scored. The Bulldogs then took the lead in the fifth on an RBI single from Hill, making it 2-1. However, Hampton responded with three runs over the final two innings, securing a late 4-2 victory.
