BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State men's and women's track and field teams will begin its outdoor season on Friday, Mar. 28 and Saturday, Mar. 29, at the Maryland Invitational, held at the Kehoe Track & Field Complex in College Park, Md. The meet starts at 10 a.m.

Maryland Invite
The Maryland Invitational is a competitive track and field meet featuring a full lineup of events across sprints, distance races, hurdles, relays, jumps, and throws. The event spans two days, beginning on Friday (3/28) with limited field events, including the discus throw for both men and women. On Saturday (3/29), the competition expands with a full schedule of track and field events, starting at 10 a.m. with the hammer throw and high jump and concluding at 5:20 p.m. with the 4x400m relay.
Athletes will compete in a variety of races, ranging from the 100m dash to the 5000m run, with additional events such as hurdle races and the 2000m steeplechase. The field events include long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault, as well as shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin.
Bulldogs Track and Field Program
The Bowie State men's and women's track and field programs are eager to begin the 2025 outdoor season after a strong indoor campaign. During the indoor season, both teams had notable highlights, including Yassine Kamara being named Field Athlete of the Year at the 2025 CIAA Indoor Championship. The Hyattsville, Md., native achieved a shot-put mark of 13.99m at indoor championships. The Bulldog women finished seventh overall with a combined 15 points while the Bulldog men posted 37.5 points for seventh overall at the JDL Fast Track. BSU secured multiple top-10 finishes, led by Lorenzo Pelham who qualified for the nationals in the 60-meter hurdles and place fourth in his heat with a time of 8.02 - two seconds off from qualifying for finals.
Looking Ahead
Bowie State will travel locally to compete in the Townson Senior Twilight Open on Saturday, Apr. 5 at the Johnny Unitas Stadium in Townson, Md.
