BOWIE, MD --- The Bowie State women's tennis team will travel to Ettrick, Va., to battle the Virginia State Trojans in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Divisional match-up on Saturday, Mar. 8. The match is set to start at 2:00 p.m.

The Series

• This is the 31st meeting between the Bulldogs and the Trojans since 2009
• BSU is 0-12 on the road against VSU
• Bowie State is 2-8 in the last 10 matches against Virginia State

About The Bulldogs 
The Bulldogs wrapped up last season with a 5-10 overall record and a 5-7 mark in conference play. Head Coach Todd Byrom returns two of five players for the 2025 season, including key returners senior and All-CIAA Preseason honoree Kayla Lowery and graduate student Tamia Byrom. Byrom also welcomes two freshmen, along with one transfer.  

Saturday's match will be the first for the Bulldogs in 2025, Bowie State's season opener and conference opener will be rescheduled at a later date in the season.

Last Time Out for the Trojans
Virginia State (2-0, 1-0 CIAA) swept Virginia Union on Saturday, Mar. 1 in Ettrick, Va. The Trojans won both doubles by scores of 6-0 before sweeping all five singles matches in straight sets. Ginger Johnson, Makensie Pago, Ashleigh Charles, Damita Bollers, and Alexcie Burrows led the charge with shutout victories.
