Softball Rolls Past Lady Lions in Doubleheader Sweep

LINCOLN, PA --- The Bowie State softball team (19-17, 11-0 CIAA, 6-0 North) rolled the Lady Lions of Lincoln (PA) with 6-0 and 3-1 victories in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) doubleheader on Friday, Apr. 18 at the LU Softball Field.

Game One | Bowie State 6, Lincoln (PA) 0
Senior Lindsey George was dominant in game one, tossing a four-hit shutout to lead the Bulldogs past the Lady Lions. She went the distance, allowing no walks and striking out 11.

The Bulldogs took an early lead in the first inning with a solo home run from sophomore Presleigh Braxton.

They added insurance runs in the second and sixth innings, with sophomores Aralynn Robinson and Taylor Dawkins each contributing RBIs on the way to a 6-0 victory.

GAME NOTES
» George struck out 11 Lions hitters.
» Every Bowie State starter reached base safely in the win.
» Bowie State grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top half of the first and didn't surrender that lead for the remainder of the game..
» Braxton led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Game Two | Bowie State 3, Lincoln (PA) 1
In the nightcap, sophomore Ryalee Dillard pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits with four walks and two strikeouts over seven innings.

At the plate, the Bulldogs were led by senior Jayla Hill, who went 3-for-4 with a triple. Fellow senior Sydney Edmond also delivered a strong performance, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Dawkins contributed as well, finishing 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Bowie State scored all three of its runs in a single frame, highlighted by Edmond's two-run single. The Bulldogs maintained the 3-1 lead the rest of the way to secure the win.

GAME NOTES
» The Bulldogs out-hit the Lions at a 9-4 clip.
» Bowie State pitchers limited Lincoln (PA) to just 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
» Hill led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple.

The Bulldogs will travel to Elizabeth City, N.C. to take on the Lady Vikings on Friday, Apr. 25 in a doubleheader matchup at the South Park Sports Complex. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
