DOVER, DE -- The Bowie State softball team (15-17) was unable to crack Delaware State's (17-14) defense, falling 3-0 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday, Apr. 2 at the DSU Softball Field.
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference Pitcher of the Week Lindsey George (5-8) took the loss for the Bulldogs, allowing three runs, one earned - on seven hits over six innings. The senior struck out five and walked two in a solid outing.
Junior Coreena Dunham led Bowie State at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a walk. The Bulldogs had limited scoring opportunities, finishing 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Their best chance came in the second inning when senior Sydney Edmond reached third with two outs, but the Hornets held firm to preserve the shutout.
Bowie State battled to the final out but was unable to break through offensively.

The Bulldogs will finish their road stretch with a CIAA Northern Division doubleheader against Lincoln (PA) on Saturday, April 5, at the LU Softball Complex in Lincoln University, Pa. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.
