Bracket Set for 2025 CIAA Softball Championship, Bowie State Earns Top Seed

BOWIE, MD --- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced the eight-team field for its 2025 Softball Championship and the back-to-back defending champions Bowie State (15-0 CIAA, 10-0 North) will be the No. 1 seed.

The CIAA's top eight softball teams will battle in a double-elimination format for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament. The quarterfinal action begins Thursday, May 1, at 10 a.m., with advancing teams moving on to the semifinals on Friday, May 2, and the championship rounds on Saturday, May 3. All games will be played at Orangeburg Recreation Park in Orangeburg, S.C.

The opening day will feature two 10 a.m. games including the Bulldogs versus the No. 4 seed from the South, the Shaw Lady Bears (4-10 CIAA, 3-5 South) and the No. 2 seed Winston-Salem State Rams and the No. 3 seed from the North the Lincoln (PA) Lady Lions.

Following the 10 a.m., starts, the No. 1 seed from the South Claflin Lady Panthers (9-6 CIAA, 7-1 South) will meet the No. 4 seed from the North, Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings (5-10 CIAA, 3-7 North), at 12 noon on Thursday while the North No. 2 seed Virginia State Trojans (11-4 CIAA, 7-3 North) will meet the South No. 3 seed Fayetteville State Broncos (7-7 CIAA, 3-5 South) also at noon.
