BOWIE, MD --- On Wednesday, May 14, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) held its annual Spring General Assembly meeting and end-of-year awards reception in Richmond, Va. The conference office announced its highest administrative and team awards at the reception and Bowie State's Jared Achuff was selected as the 2024-2025 CIAA Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

"Jared Achuff has been the heartbeat of our program this season", stated head coach Kyle Jackson. "His relentless work ethic, leadership on and off the field, and commitment to excellence have not only earned him the title of CIAA Male Scholar of the Year, but have also elevated everyone around him. We couldn't be prouder of Jared and all he's accomplished."

Achuff excelled both on and off the field, earning All-Conference honors as an offensive lineman while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. As a graduate senior captain and key leader of the Bulldogs football team, he anchored an offensive line that helped generate 1,863 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs ranked third in the CIAA in scoring with 29.4 points per game, second in rushing yards per game (176.3), and fourth in two-point conversions. The Cherry Hill, N.J., native was also selected to represent both Bowie State and the CIAA at the prestigious HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Other award recipients included Nia Gibson (Fayetteville State), who was named Female Scholar of the Year; Anthony Bennett (Fayetteville State), honored as Athletic Director of the Year; Latoya Hilliard-Gray (Elizabeth City State), recognized as Senior Woman Administrator of the Year; and Adrian Ferguson (Fayetteville State), named Sports Information Director of the Year.
