KUTZTOWN, PA – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (0-5, 0-0 CIAA) showed fight but ultimately dropped a four-set decision to Kutztown (2-2, 0-0 PSAC) Friday night at Keystone Arena, 25-14, 20-25, 25-17, 25-7.
In the opening set, the Bulldogs answered an early Kutztown run with points from Nina Edwards and a service ace by Reece Culver to close the gap. Late in the frame, Madyson Brinson and Nadira Avery added kills to spark momentum, but the Golden Bears held on for the 25-14 win.
Bowie State responded in the second set with its strongest performance of the night, earning a 25-20 victory. Edwards and Nicole Taylor combined for a pair of blocks to help build an early lead, while Avery and Brinson delivered timely kills. A service ace from Taylor Johnson shifted momentum midway through, and Edwards sealed the set with the winning kill to tie the match 1-1.
The Bulldogs kept competing in the third set with kills from Mekenna Scott and Abena Asomani-Martin, along with a service ace from Trinity Loundmon, but Kutztown's serving run proved too much in a 25-17 setback.
