The Series
Saturday's game will be the 10th meeting between Livingstone and Bowie State since 2009. The Bulldogs lead the series with the Blue Bears 7-2, winning the last matchup 31-17 on Sept. 21, 2024, in Bowie, Md.

CIAA Weekly Honors
Bowie State's Samuel Graham has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Back of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Graham led the Bulldogs' defense in Saturday's game at Division I Delaware State, finishing with a game-high 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, and one tackle for loss. The redshirt-senior defensive back was active in both run support and pass coverage, consistently limiting the Hornets' big-play opportunities.

Through two games, Graham leads the CIAA in total tackles (20) and forced fumbles (2), while also recording a defensive touchdown on a 53-yard fumble recovery in the season opener at Shippensburg.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Bowie State, led by head coach Kyle Jackson, sits at 1-1 following a 23-7 win at Shippensburg and a 36-14 setback at Division I Delaware State. Under offensive coordinator Matt Goggans, the Bulldogs are averaging 333.5 yards per game, including a strong rushing attack paced by Micah Robinson (175 yds, 1 TD) and Maximus Jones (79 yds, 1 TD).

Quarterback Malakai Anthony has thrown for 254 yards and two touchdowns, while wideout Challenger Valentine (84 yds, 1 TD) leads a balanced receiving corps. Joseph Towler added nine catches for 63 yards against Delaware State, and Kevin Taylor has contributed as a dual-threat option with 108 total yards in his debut.

Defensively, coordinator Avery Williams has his unit holding opponents to 164 rushing yards per game while forcing three turnovers through two contests. Defensive back Samuel Graham leads the way with 20 tackles, two forced fumbles, and a 53-yard fumble return touchdown. Elijah McKenzie has added an interception, while Damir McCrary (11 tackles, 1 TFL) and Alijah Miller (1 sack) anchor the front. Special teams have seen Chris Coleman connect on a 35-yard field goal, and punter Davion Moore averages nearly 36 yards per kick.

Scouting Livingstone
Livingstone College, led by second-year head coach Sean Gilbert, sits at 1-1 after splitting its first two games of 2025. The Blue Bears earned a 28-17 win at Allen following a season-opening loss at Charleston (WV). Offensively, Livingstone averages 301.5 yards per game, with a balanced mix of 205.0 through the air and 96.5 on the ground. Quarterbacks Alfredo Sotelo (261 yds, 1 TD) and Elijah Alexander (149 yds, 1 TD) have shared time under center, while playmakers Davyn Reid (120 rec. yds, 1 TD), Justin Glenn (104 rec. yds), and Tavion Jackson (70 rec. yds, 1 TD) headline the receiving corps. Maliq Staten adds explosiveness in the run game with a 63-yard touchdown run already this season.

Defensively, the Blue Bears have been active up front with 21 tackles for loss and four sacks through two games. Malachi Adkins leads the team with 15 tackles, while Kenyon Garner (13 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 1 sack) and Dontavius Phillips (11 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1 sack) provide disruption in the trenches. Zavion Lloyd has chipped in with an interception, and special teams are anchored by punter Isaac Gallagher, who is averaging 40 yards per kick.
