ST. PETERSBURG, FL - The Bowie State women's volleyball team (1-8, 0-0 CIAA) came up short against Nova Southeastern (6-2, 0-0 Sunshine State) on Thursday night, dropping a 3-0 decision (25-14, 25-19, 25-15) inside the McArthur Center.
The Sharks used a fast start in the opening set, but BSU broke through with a kill from
Madyson Brinson and later added points from
Lyric Snowden and
Nicole Taylor to keep pace. NSU held on to secure the frame, 25-14.
Bowie State showed its best rally in the second set. After an early kill from
Nina Edwards gave the Bulldogs the first point, Snowden and
Nadira Avery combined for timely kills, while Snowden added a service ace to trim the deficit late. The Bulldogs closed the gap to 24-19 before Nova capitalized on a miscue to take the set.
In the third, BSU battled back from an early 4-0 hole behind kills from Taylor and Avery, followed by a block from Brinson and
Trinity Loundmon. Snowden chipped in with another ace to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance, but the Sharks used a late surge to seal the match, 25-15.

The Bulldogs continue play Saturday in the Eckerd Tournament, taking on Saint Leo at 4 p.m. before closing the night against host Eckerd at 7 p.m.
