ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (2-9) wrapped up play at the Eckerd Classic on Saturday, opening with a four-set win over Saint Leo (4-5) before falling to host Eckerd (6-2) in straight sets.

SET 1 | Nina Edwards and
Abena Asomani-Martin sparked BSU early before
Lyric Snowden closed the set with back-to-back kills for a 25-20 victory.
SET 2 | The Bulldogs dominated behind a 13-0 serving run from Asomani-Martin. Edwards and
Nicole Taylor added kills before
Taylor Johnson sealed it with an ace, 25-11.
SET 3 | Snowden and Asomani-Martin kept BSU close, but Saint Leo capitalized late for a 25-18 win.
SET 4 | Edwards, Taylor, and Snowden led a late push before
Bracey Gross dropped in an ace and
Madyson Brinson finished it with a kill to clinch the 25-19 win and the match.
GAME TWO | Eckerd, 3 – Bowie State, 0
SET 1 | The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead and tied the frame at 10-10 on strong play from Snowden and
Trinity Loundmon, but the Tritons closed strong for a 25-21 win.
SET 2 | Snowden and
Nadira Avery sparked a 4-0 run, while Edwards chipped in three kills, but Eckerd held off the Bulldogs late, 25-23.
SET 3 | BSU surged with a five-point run highlighted by Snowden and Loundmon before Edwards and Taylor added key blocks, but Eckerd pulled away 25-22 to finish the sweep.

The Bulldogs will open up Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play on Thursday, Sept. 25, when they visit the Trojans of Virginia State inside the VSU Multipurpose Center. First serve is set for 6 pm.
