Bulldogs Earn Northern Division Road Win Over Elizabeth City State

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Bowie State women's volleyball team (3-10, 1-1 CIAA) bounced back in a big way Monday night, earning a 3-1 road victory over Elizabeth City State (0-10, 0-2 CIAA) inside the R.L. Vaughan Center. The Bulldogs dropped the opening frame 25-20 but stormed back to claim the next three by scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 27-25.

After falling in set one, Bowie State regrouped behind strong defensive pressure and timely kills from Nina Edwards and Nicole Taylor. Edwards and Taylor fueled a 9-4 run early in the second set, while Lyric Snowden added multiple kills and a service ace to push the lead to 16-7. The Bulldogs never looked back, closing out the set 25-15 to even the match.

Bowie State kept its foot on the gas in the third, racing out to an 8-2 lead thanks to the combined efforts of Taylor, who posted kills and aces, and a key block from Edwards and Nadira Avery. Snowden, Madyson Brinson, and Haley Pelham also chipped in offensively as BSU controlled the set from start to finish, sealing a 25-18 win.

The fourth set proved to be the most intense of the night. Edwards and Snowden powered the Bulldogs through a back-and-forth stretch, while Trinity Loundmon's back-to-back service aces provided a spark to give BSU a 16-14 lead. Edwards and Snowden then came up with crucial blocks to extend the margin, and late kills from Edwards and Marissa Robinson closed the door on a 27-25 victory, clinching the match for Bowie State.
