Fauntleroy Earns CIAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors

BOWIE, MD — Bowie State men's basketball guard Guy Fauntleroy was named the CIAA Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning, following a strong all-around performance to open the 2026 calendar. The honor marks the second weekly award of the season for head coach Darrell Brooks' program.

The Upper Marlboro, Md., native opened 2026 with a game-high 23 points against Shaw, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from 3-point range. He added seven rebounds, three steals, and multiple assists, impacting the game on both ends of the floor.

One of the CIAA's most efficient perimeter threats, Fauntleroy currently ranks third in the conference in 3-point field goals made per game (2.4). He also sits 12th in the CIAA in assists per game (2.4), placing him among the league's top 15 playmakers, and ranks 10th in steals, highlighting his all-around impact.

Bowie State begins a three-game road stretch Thursday, Jan. 8, traveling to Claflin University for a 7:30 p.m. contest inside Tullis Arena in Orangeburg, S.C.
