BOWIE, MD — Bowie State women's basketball standout
Jada Bouknight has been named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Bouknight continues to establish herself as one of the top rim protectors in NCAA Division II. She currently ranks 13th nationally in blocked shots, while also sitting second in the CIAA. Her impact has helped propel Bowie State to a No. 3 national ranking in Division II for total blocked shots, underscoring the Bulldogs' defensive identity.
In BSU's recent contest against Johnson C. Smith, Bouknight anchored the paint with four blocks, six rebounds, and a steal, consistently altering shots and forcing difficult looks. The Bowie, Md., native defensive presence played a key role in limiting the Golden Bulls to 31 percent shooting from the field and no made 3-pointers.
The Bulldogs begin a three-game road stretch on Thursday, Jan. 8, traveling south to face Claflin University at 5:30 p.m. inside Tullis Arena in Orangeburg, S.C.
