CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bowie State men's basketball freshman
Charles Thomas, III has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday morning.
Thomas turned in a strong two-game stretch for the Bulldogs, averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting efficiently from the field. The Upper Marlboro, Md., native opened the week with 13 points against Elizabeth City State, connecting on 6-of-13 attempts while adding four rebounds and three steals. He followed with 17 points at Bluefield State on 7-of-14 shooting, knocking down two 3-pointers and pulling down a team-high six rebounds in 26 minutes.
The honor also marks the second weekly conference award this season for the Bulldogs under head coach
Darrell Brooks.
The Bulldogs continue their five-game home stretch when they host Elizabeth City State on Wednesday, Feb. 11, for the Battle of Classes at A.C. Jordan Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
