BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State women's tennis team (0–2, 0–1 CIAA) will host Virginia State University (2-3, 1-2 CIAA) in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference match at 1 p.m. at the BSU Tennis Courts in Bowie, MD.

The Bulldogs opened their home slate Saturday, Mar. 7, dropping a pair of matches. Bowie State fell 4–0 to Elizabeth City State before suffering a 4–0 setback to Shippensburg later in the day.
Against ECSU, the Lady Vikings secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two.
Nakari Blunt and
Asia Johnson fell at No. 1 doubles, while
Payton Swinton and
Verneice Herndon dropped an 8–0 decision at No. 2 doubles. ECSU carried that momentum into singles play, claiming four courts to secure the match, with Blunt (No. 1), Johnson (No. 2), Herndon (No. 3), and Swinton (No. 4) all falling in their respective matches.
In the second match, BSU faced Shippensburg in a singles-only contest. Herndon (No. 3), Pentorn (No. 4), and Swinton (No. 5) were defeated, while Blunt trailed 5–2 at No. 1 singles before the match went unfinished.
Last Timeout for the Trojans
Virginia State last competed on Mar. 10 against Bluefield State, dropping a pair of matches. The Trojans fell 4–3 in the opening contest before suffering a 4–1 setback in the second match of the day.
In the opener, VSU swept all three doubles courts to claim the doubles point, but Bluefield State responded in singles play, winning four of the six courts to secure the 4–3 victory.
In the second match, the Trojans again earned a doubles victory at No. 1, but Bluefield State controlled singles play to claim the 4–1 win and complete the sweep of the doubleheader.
