Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State enters CIAA play following a challenging non-conference schedule to begin the 2026 campaign. Offensively, the Bulldogs have been led by Amos (.341), Dunham (.271), and
Taylor Dawkins (.270), with Newell providing consistency and plate discipline in the middle of the lineup. The team has emphasized situational hitting and aggressive baserunning, highlighted by Braxton's team-high 12 runs scored.
In the circle, Seals has been a steady presence, leading the team in innings pitched and strikeouts, while
Aaliyah Amos continues to play a significant role in the rotation. Defensively, the Bulldogs hold a .947 fielding percentage and will look to improve consistency as conference play begins.
Last Time Out for the Bulldogs
Bowie State split its final non-conference doubleheader, falling 3-1 to Mansfield before earning a 3-2 extra-inning victory over Slippery Rock.
In game one, Mansfield took an early lead and extended it to 3-0 in the third inning. The Bulldogs broke through in the seventh when Puller hit a solo home run, but the late rally fell short.
Amos led the offense with two hits, including a double. Searwar pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three runs, while Amos added two scoreless innings in relief.
In game two, Bowie State responded with a resilient 3-2 win in eight innings. Dawkins tied the game in the fifth with a solo home run before scoring the game-winning run in the eighth on Puller's RBI single.
Seals delivered a complete-game performance, striking out 11 batters over eight innings while allowing just two runs on five hits. Dunham added two hits and two stolen bases, while
Presleigh Braxton reached base three times and scored a run.
