CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bowie State softball pitcher
Sydney Seals and outfielder
Presleigh Braxton have been named CIAA Pitcher and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
Seals anchored the Bulldogs' pitching staff during the CIAA Round-Up, helping BSU go 6–0 over a three-day slate of games. The sophomore struck out five batters against Claflin, nine against Winston-Salem State, and 12 against Shaw, showcasing dominant command on the mound. Her ability to control games and limit opponent scoring was instrumental in the Bulldogs' perfect weekend.
Braxton powered the Bowie State offense during the Round-Up, going 7-for-19 (.368) with four RBIs and five runs scored. The junior also reached a major milestone, collecting her 100th career hit, and delivered key hits in multiple games while providing leadership in center field. Braxton's consistent performance at the plate and on the bases helped fuel the Bulldogs' six-game sweep.
The honors mark the first weekly CIAA award of the season for Seals and the second for Braxton.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will travel to Wilmington, Del., to compete against CACC foe Goldey-Beacom College in a non-conference doubleheader matchup on Saturday, April 4, at the Jackson Athletic Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
