BOWIE, MD – Bowie State University Media Relations Coordinator Tristian "TJ" Gunter has been selected to serve as the Atlantic Region Representative on the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) Board of Directors.
Gunter will serve a two-year term representing sports communicators from institutions across the Atlantic Region. In the role, he will serve as a liaison between the D2SIDA Board and member institutions, helping communicate association initiatives, provide regional feedback and advocate for the needs of Division II athletic communicators.
"I am truly honored to represent the Atlantic Region on the D2SIDA Board," said Gunter. "Serving alongside so many talented and respected communications professionals is an incredible opportunity. I'm excited to contribute to the continued growth of our profession, strengthen collaboration throughout the region and help ensure the voices of our membership are heard."
Since joining Bowie State Athletics, Gunter has elevated the department's communications efforts while overseeing media relations for the Bulldogs' 14 varsity sports. His responsibilities include managing statistical coverage, coordinating media operations, producing feature content, maintaining the athletics website, overseeing student communications interns and leading strategic storytelling initiatives that highlight the achievements of Bowie State's student-athletes, coaches and programs.
The appointment continues a remarkable year of professional recognition for Gunter, who was recently named the 2025-26 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Sports Information Director of the Year, becoming one of the youngest recipient in conference history to earn the honor.
The D2SIDA Board of Directors works to advance the profession of athletic communications within NCAA Division II by supporting member institutions, promoting professional development opportunities and enhancing collaboration among sports information professionals nationwide.
Gunter's appointment further reinforces Bowie State Athletics' growing presence on the national stage while continuing the department's commitment to excellence in communications, branding and storytelling.
