(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Karen Trevino (Anthony, NM) led the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds  to their second consecutive win over the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs took an early lead in each of the sets only to see the Firebirds come from behind to win, 25-21, 25-17 and 25-22.

Trevino led the Firebirds in scoring  a match-high 14 kills. Following Trevino in scoring was Ashley Jefferson, (Manvel, Texas) who made nine kills and three digs, and Carmen Smith (Houston, Texas) who made five kills and 10 digs. Joi Upton (Baltimore, MD) made the win possible by giving 26 assists.

Junior Ashley Robinson (Cleveland, OH, Shaker Heights), led the BSU's Lady Bulldog scoring with eight kills and four digs. Junior JaTyra Heath (Federalsburg, MD, Colonel Richardson) followed with seven kills and two digs.

Bowie State returns to the court - Wednesday, October 14th for a CIAA Eastern Division doublehaeder, hosting the Lady Tigers of Saint Paul's College.  Match time is set for 5 p.m. in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
