(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The University of the District of Columbia Firebirds flew away with a three-set victory over Bowie State University, beating the Lady Bulldogs 25-12, 25-18 and 25-15. The loss was BSU's third in a row and drops the Lady Bulldogs season record to 8-21.
Bowie State managed just 11 kills on 63 attempts compared to 45 total kills on 89 attempts for the UDC Firebirds.
Freshman
Jenahye' Johnson led Bowie State in kills with six and fellow freshman
Cara Nance added a team-high 10 digs and two service aces. Freshman
Paige McIntosh tallied all 10 Bowie State assists to go along with four digs and one block assist.
UDC (11-18) was paced by Mirella Nunes and Grace DeMichelis with 12 kills apiece and Vanessa Garley contributed 11 kills. Nunes also added a match-high three service aces to go along with eight digs.
Bowie State University will close out the conference portion of its schedule – Wednesday (October 26th) at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. Match time is 6 pm.
