GAME 1 BOX SCORE          GAME 2 BOX SCORE

(OXFORD, Pa.)  Bowie State University pounded out 28 total hits, 16 in game one alone and cruised to a 17-3 and 6-2 conference doubleheader sweep of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania.

Sophomore Megan Alexander (Damascus, Md., Damascus) (5-5) struck out seven for the third time this season, walked one and went 3-for-4 from the plate to help lead Bowie State in game one.   Fellow sophomore Justine Smith (Silver Spring, MD, James Hurbert Blake) played her best game as a Lady Bulldog, going 5-for-5 in the opener and was directly responsible for five RBI.  Sophomore Amanda Ray (Damascus, MD, Damascus, Mount St. Mary's) had only one hit in game one, but it produced three RBI.

The 17 runs in game one was a season-high for Bowie State.  Most of BSU's runs came in the second and third innings, pushing seven and six runs respectively across the dish.

Lincoln (Pa.) committed nine errors and had just three hits in the first game.  Miriah Liberty hit two doubles in game one and went 4-for-5 on the day to lead the Lady Lions.

Game two was a little more competitive for Lincoln (Pa.), as the Lady Lions matched their game one hit total of seven and committed less errors (two).

Bowie State opened game two with three runs in the top of the first inning.  Following a leadoff flyout by Smith, Ray tripled and freshmen Renelle Traylor (Hayward, CA, San Lorenzo) along with Adria Lewis (Cumberland, MD, Fort Hill) doubled for a 2-0 lead.  Lewis advanced to third after a passed ball and scored after a single through the left side of the Lady Lions defense by senior Danielle McClay (Silver Spring, MD, Montgomery Blair).

A Traylor triple in the top of the second pushed two more Bowie State runs across, giving the Lady Bulldogs a comfortable 5-0 advantage.

Miriah Coates tripled in the bottom of the second inning and scored via a passed ball for the first run of game two for the Lady Lions.

The biggest hit of the day for the Lady Lions came in the bottom of the third inning when Sharay DuBose homered to right center, trimming the Lincoln (PA) deficit to 5-2.

Bowie State's Ray added a little insurance in the top of the fourth inning, scoring on an error by Lincoln's centerfielder.

The BSU Lady Bulldogs tallied 12 hits in the nightcap off Lincoln (Pa.) pitcher Erin Rucker (4-16).

Smith led Bowie State again in game two, accounting for three hits in four plate appearances.  Ray, Traylor and Lewis recorded a pair of hits each and McClay along with sophomore Kristen Lee (Germantown, MD, Northwest) and freshman Mariela Hernandez (Del Rio, TX, Los Fresnos) tallied one hit each.

Hernandez (8-11) pitched seven complete innings and struck out a season-high eight in the Bowie State victory.

Bowie State (16-16, 10-4 CIAA) is scheduled to play Virginia Union University on Saturday (April 16) in Richmond and face Elizabeth City State at a neutral site (Petersburg) on Sunday, weather permitting.
